There is a wide range of flooring options in Australia. Yet, not all of these are fit for bedroom installations. There are floorings more appropriate for bedrooms than others, and one of the most recommended is SPC flooring.
What is SPC flooring?
SPC flooring is a type of vinyl flooring that emulates the look of luxury wood. Also called Stone Plastic Composite or Stone Polymer Composite, this flooring option is advertised as an engineered luxury vinyl flooring. Some manufacturers also call this “Rigid Vinyl Plank” or “Waterproof Vinyl Flooring”.
How many layers does the SPC flooring have?
This type of vinyl flooring has four layers. First, the bottom part of the flooring is an underlayment. This layer takes care of the sound reduction and cushion of the flooring. The next layer is the core, which is the spine or backbone of the plank.
The third layer is the wood emulation layer. Depending on the wood to copy, the look of this layer varies. Finally, at the top of the design layer is the wear. The wear is the topcoat that protects the design layer from superficial damages.
What makes the SPC flooring unique from other types of flooring is its core. This type of flooring has a rigid core. It is mostly made from polyvinyl chloride, limestones, and other stabilising agents.
Together, these four layers make the SPC flooring easy to install, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.
